While the event featured key opportunities to hear the stories, the changes in the industry and how women in construction have become the norm and not an exception, the real focus on the day was to celebrate each other and take a rare day to have some fun, meet and connect.
The lunch has been established as an annual event to recognise the accomplishments of the past year but also as a chance to put forward ideas for a more progressive and equal workplace in a comfortable and easy-going environment; basically, have fun talking about what we do.
The event was held at the wonderfully old and recently refurbished Bleakhouse in Albert Park.
Good times were supplied by Nath and Luke from the Melbourne Entertainment Company, and following an excellent lunch and afternoon Drag Show, there were dance lessons and great music to bring everyone together and round out the day.
McCormack is proud to be at the forefront of equality and diversity in the workplace, never letting exclusionary thinking, prejudice or stereotypes get in the way of good work and progressive development. Days like this remind us all that behind the work, we’re all in this together, and with almost 100 people in attendance, there’s sure to be more to follow.
Thanks to all who attended, and here’s to another great year of working towards a better future.
