Young Husband engaged McCormack to complete the design and construct (D&C) fitout of four speculative suites within one of Melbourne’s most iconic heritage woolstores. This historic building is undergoing a significant transformation into one of the city’s largest net-zero-carbon adaptive reuse precincts.
Collaborating closely with Hot Black, the design preserves the building’s heritage charm, incorporating original ceiling timbers, structural elements, and exposed brickwork, while removing only what was necessary to create the new suites. These speculative suites are the first available for lease in this reimagined space.
The suites combine a unique heritage character with modern functionality. Light timber flooring and exposed brick walls offer a rich, textured aesthetic, while the fully furnished spaces exude a New York loft-style ambiance. Each suite is designed with both comfort and practicality in mind, featuring open-plan workstations, flexible meeting rooms, collaboration zones, and kitchen breakout spaces, creating an ideal environment for various working styles.
We are excited to see this space grow, blending heritage and modernity to create a dynamic hub for the future.
