Situated on George Street in the heart of Beenleigh, the Royal Hotel has been a cornerstone of the local community since 1886. With more than a century of gatherings and stories within its walls, the pub has long served as a familiar meeting place for locals and visitors alike.

McCormack led the refurbishment of the venue, revitalising key hospitality spaces while carefully preserving the character that has defined the hotel for generations. The project balanced contemporary functionality with the warmth and familiarity expected of a traditional Queensland pub, ensuring the venue could continue serving its community well into the future.

The design, developed by Cayas + Ward, refreshed the bistro, amenities and external areas with modern finishes and improved spatial flow, while remaining respectful of the building’s heritage and social significance. Each intervention was carefully considered to enhance the guest experience, creating spaces that feel bright, welcoming and authentically connected to Beenleigh’s local culture.

Delivered for ALH Hotels, the refurbishment was carefully staged within a live operating venue, allowing the hotel to remain open throughout construction. Close coordination between stakeholders and trades ensured the works were managed with minimal disruption, successfully bringing the revitalised spaces to life while maintaining the rhythm of this long-standing local.
