McCormack was engaged by SEMZ on behalf of Hester Hornbrook Academy to deliver a 2,500m² multi-level campus fitout, incorporating significant structural upgrades. Hester Hornbrook Academy is a trauma-informed educational organisation that integrates learning and wellbeing to help young people thrive.

We are proud to have delivered this dynamic and inclusive environment tailored to the unique needs of its students. Designed with flexibility, safety, and engagement in mind, the campus features modern learning spaces, breakout areas, and wellbeing zones that support both academic and personal development.

The project included complex structural works, such as a major slab cut-out and steel installation to connect Levels 3 and 4, delivered alongside the broader fitout. Our team worked closely with Academy staff to ensure the space reflects their educational philosophy and promotes a strong sense of belonging.

A standout feature is the striking mural by artist Emma Bamblett. Using vibrant acrylics, the artwork expresses rich cultural symbolism aligned with the Academy’s vision. From creator spirits above to grounded coolamons below, each element reflects Aboriginal ways of knowing and learning, reinforcing the school’s commitment to empowerment and holistic education.

With a target to be operational by Term 3, 2025, McCormack delivered the project on time and within budget. The result is a vibrant, functional, and supportive campus, an environment where students feel safe, inspired, and ready to thrive.
