McCormack was appointed as the head contractor to deliver a 2,710sqm chambers fitout across two levels at 500 Bourke Street, creating an elegant and sophisticated chambers environment. The design intent was to establish a high-end, clubhouse-inspired workspace for sole barristers, perfectly complemented by sweeping city views.

With 56 individual chambers, the project demanded exceptional coordination and communication, particularly during the shop drawing phase. Each chamber catered to a sole barrister, requiring a tailored approach to ensure the seamless integration of personal needs within the shared environment.

Design consultants Gray Puksand crafted a refined space that honours the legacy of Ah Ket, blending dark, moody tones throughout the breakout kitchens to establish a cohesive theme. This is enhanced by expansive benchtops and coffee milling points designed to foster collaboration. The inviting front-of-house reception sets the tone for the chambers, featuring warm timber tones and biophilic elements that create a welcoming atmosphere for both barristers and guests alike.

The client’s curated art collection adds a vibrant touch, resonating with the overall design aesthetic. Carefully placed track lighting illuminates the pieces, enhancing the sense of sophistication and attention to detail.
