Brief
V/Line has been the backbone of Victoria’s regional public transport system for over 30 years. With a vision to deliver a modern, high-performing railway and coach service, there was a need for their workspaces to also reflect that vision. The brief to McCormack was to create a new ‘semi-Agile’ workspace for 640 V/Line staff. The space needed to incorporate interconnecting walls, a new internal stairway, multiple fixed and flexible meetings rooms along with a breakout space. The look and feel of V/Line’s brand and commitment to Victoria’s transport industry also needed to be integrated into the design.
Our Solution
McCormack’s goal was to not only deliver sleek new office fit out for V/Line but also help transition a traditional staff base into a partially Agile working space. McCormack’s team worked directly with V/Line and a range of service and architectural consultants to ensure specific requirements met quality and budgetary expectations without compromising the original brief. The project was delivered whilst V/Line staff carried on their day to day activities. McCormack was able to navigate all challenges, maintain a good relationship with all stakeholders and work around the needs of tenants on floors above and below the works. The end result is a beautifully crafted office fitout that incorporates second hand rail-track, printed acoustic images of V/Line’s CAD drawings and a slick, curved wall that replicates the V/Line logo. Multiple breakout spaces, bright lighting and contemporary finishes encourage flexible working to support a high-performing workforce.
