Puma’s National Headquarters, located 40mins south from Melbourne’s CBD, was a tired and rundown 1960’s building. Over the years the building had a number of extensions to the original footprint which left the internal office accommodation disjointed and in need of modernisation. Puma approached McCormack Property Services to refurbish their office into a modern, functional working environment that would provide a socially vibrant, yet collaborative workplace for all employees. The design required a thoughtful, modest and creative solution that would maximise the use of the existing building and ensure the Puma brand, values and culture were fully reflected within the work space.
To convert the existing segregated spaces into an open plan office, the experts at McCormack Property Services built a crossover between the front and rear buildings. An internal courtyard was upgraded to enable natural light to enter the central office, and a new outdoor staff area adjacent to the staff breakout room was introduced encompassing a timber deck and shade sail. Undertaken in five different phases, refurbishment specialists
McCormack Property Services delivered the project during full occupation so Puma could maintain business continuity. This project demonstrates how a successful design/builder/client relationship can result in an inspiring workplace that improves working efficiency and supports growth.
