As part of a multi-million dollar repositioning and redevelopment project, the Gothic Tower known as Queen and Collins has been brought into the 21st century without losing any of its original charm that has made it part of Melbourne’s architectural and commercial skyline.

Tenancy 1 on the 16th Floor of the Queen and Collins Tower has been designed and built to meet the rigours of modern office life. The consideration of social, environmental and technological factors has future-proofed this turnkey workplace against these contemporary challenges with a flexible and adaptable site.

Clad in dusty pink, textural greys and bricks in neutral tones, Tenancy 1 by McCormack and inhouse design group Studio 103 is ready to launch into the post-pandemic workplace by creating an office space that is fun and engaging without resorting to novelty or tricks. Open plan where needed, privacy where it matters, Tenancy 1 plays on the gothic history of the site – dating back to 1887 – of the original corner building the Gothic Bank, a grand response to Melbourne’s gold rush success at the end of the 19th century.

McCormack and Studio 103 have created a space that pays its respect to the site while bringing it into the here and now with confidence and aplomb.
